UPDATES:

April 15, 2020

Dear Students ,

BCC is here to support you at this COVID situation and we have taken some measures to help and support each student. Some of these measures are:

1. FREE ACCESS TO MOODLE

When students use MTN or Vodafone data to access Moodle, they will not be charged for data consumed by Moodle Portal. No need to do anything, if you are using MTN or Vodafone data you will not be charged by them for data consumption as long as you are accessing BCC Moodle. When you access other sites, data charges will be there.

2. DATA/PAYMENT TO STUDENTS

Students who are paying the fee in instalments and have completed the due fee already are getting Ghc 50 discount on next instalment and Ghc 50 per month till the campus is not physically open until the final exams are over, starting from April 15, 2020, as long as they pay all fee on time. Students who have paid the full fee of the semester, they get Ghc 100 instead of Ghc 50.

3. FEE PAYMENT LAST DATE EXTENDED

We have extended the last date of fee payment to May 15, 2020.

4. ACCESS TO MOODLE & STUDENTS WITH FINANCIAL ISSUES

Students with financial difficulties are getting extensions on the deadline for fee payment. They can fill this form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd2tpLgPd7PzbWs3lzlt-o5eIfDmWs3hJpYA-yivtdZwJnxow/viewform) to request for that. Our registrar and student services team are interacting them and supporting them case to case basis. Also, for all studentds, instead of down payment of 60%, we are giving access to Moodle on the payment of 50% only.

5. WAIVING OFF LATE FEE PENALTY CHARGES

We will not charge any penalty for late fee payment this semester.

6. MID-TERM PREPARATION BREAK

No classes held for the week of April 13-19 so that students can prepare the mid-term assessments.

7. TRAINING FOR USE OF MOODLE

For semester 1 students, we will organize online virtual training on Moodle soon.

8. TRAINING OUR TEACHERS

BCC has designed a training course for all full-time and part-time faculty members to help them to upgrade their online teaching skills. All faculty members started receiving this training from April 14, 2020. Please note we select the best quality faculty members to teach students and now, we are becoming better. We ensure world-class teaching quality online or offline for all students.

9. ATTENDANCE AND LECTURES

Please note that no student will be penalized for lack of attendance this semester as long as you submit all the assignments on time on Moodle as expected by the faculty members and complete all the weekly tasks given to you by your faculty members. This implies that BCC is gradually moving towards asynchronous teaching. Besides, we are instructing all faculty members to record high quality lectures and upload the lectures on Moodle so that students can access the lectures any time flexibly and conveniently.

10. FINAL EXAMS

There is no need to worry about final exams mode and when it will be conducted. We will review the situation and we will confirm the prepartation of students before finalizing the final exams. The final exams dates will be announced later and in case of need for physical sessions for practicals in some subjects, we will arrange for that too as soon as the lockdown situation improves.

We appeal to our students to have full faith and trust on BCC. You can notice all 10 points above and reflect how we are dealing with this situation favouring our students and supporting all of you in the best manner possible when the whole world is struggling. We, as an institution, are also facing big issues, challenges and financial troubles at this stage like other organizations in the world. And, therefore we expect similar cooperation and support from students. We are all in this situation together. And we will overcome this situation together as a family.

COVID-19 READINESS POLICY

(Effective March 16, 2020)

The World is not going to end, but Covid-19 is the deadliest threat the world has seen in 100 years, and the safety of our offices and our staff is a priority over the next 2-3 months. Africa is only starting to see the beginning of its emergence, and we must be vigilant in case there is a similar transmission rate on the continent. Like you, we're monitoring the latest news about the coronavirus. That's why we're doing all we can.

As African governments begin to implement national lockdown procedures of their own it is highly important Managers and Group leaders act efficiently to coordinate and implement local remote and split working schedules to reduce overall risks associated. To tackle the current situation we need to shift to 100% online learning strategies. We urge our staff and students to cooperate with us and make this possible.
